I do not have ADHD, but my husband, Brian, and daughter, Ava, do.
In our house, I am the "Keeper of the Chaos."
While symptoms appear differently in boys and girls and men and women, Bri and Ava are similar in that they are high achievers whose brains move a thousand miles a minute. It's like living with two crazy professors, their stacks of papers everywhere, half-finished projects, and doubles, sometimes triples, of anything and everything they use and love in the most random places.
I'm constantly throwing out, putting away, and organizing things. I say I do it for them, but, really, I do it for myself. Left to their own devices, our home would look like an episode of Hoarders.
After Ava was diagnosed about five years ago, like any mom whose kid is dealing with something, I dove head first into the world of ADHD to help her find solutions.
Through my education, I not only discovered a plethora of strategies that work for her, but I also developed an arsenal of habits that have helped me focus and be productive.
I wanted to share what works for me as an overscheduled and overstimulated working mom.
This isn't your typical list of productivity hacks, but they will make you think of things differently and help you plow through your to-do list.
