Earlier this month, I shared a few looks I wore in Florida—just quick mirror pics and some chatty commentary—and I wasn’t sure how it would land. But it turns out, a lot of you really liked it. So I’m back with a few more outfits, this time from real life at home.

We landed from Florida on a Monday morning, and by that Thursday, a storm blew through and knocked out our power—for an astonishing four days. We have a generator, but that died about 24 hours in. So I’m not exaggerating when I say that by the time the lights came back on, I had no idea what day it was or what was going on.
Luckily, we all kept it together and just committed to making it a fun experience. Viv, of course, had the time of her life. She got to eat all the ice cream in the freezer, spent hours at the arcade with her sisters, had a spontaneous afternoon with her “cousins,” and even spent a night in a hotel with a pool—a last-minute booking we made when we realized we’d be without power for yet another night and a heat wave was rolling in. Life is good for that kid.
Meanwhile, Bri and I just sort of limped into last week. We played a lot of catch-up, tried to ease back into “normal life,” and managed to squeeze in a few fun evenings—like a freezing cold pool date and Bri’s birthday celebration.
📍 Monday – Back at My Desk
Just a regular work-from-home day after four chaotic, power-less days. It was hot outside, but our AC was working overtime—and the vent is right by my desk—so I wanted a light layer.
I’ve been talking about these linen pants for weeks now. They’re from Amazon and honestly shockingly good. I’m 5’10” and wearing a medium in the navy. They’re under $40, and the fit and quality really impressed me.
I paired them with a simple white tee from GAP and threw on a lightweight stripped cardigan from J.Crew Factory. My sandals are an old pair from French Sole via Tuckernuck. They’re no longer available there, but I did find them on Zappos—and honestly, any neutral slide would work just as well.
📍 Thursday – A Quiet Hour for Mom and Dad
By the end of the week, I was going a little stir crazy. The plan was for Bri and me to have a drink on our patio after work, but our kids wouldn’t stop talking to us (lol), so we ended up going out instead. We headed to one of my favorite local spots—Hook and Ladder. I’ll only go if there are seats at the bar, and midweek, you usually can. The restaurant itself is pretty but overpriced. The bar, though? Great cocktails, solid apps, and top-tier people-watching.
I’ve been looking for an excuse to wear these wide-leg white jeans from FRAME—The Lax style. I took the size 29 and they fit well, especially through the hips, but I do need to have the waist nipped in a bit. Use my code TWDL15 at FRAME for 15% off.
They’re a little outside my comfort zone, but I really like them. Since they’re so wide, I balanced them out with an old fitted striped tee from Gap Factory that has an open, low back (such a fun detail).
I wore them with the Farrow leather sandals by Dolce Vita. You can’t really see it in the photo, but they have these funky little charms on top, and they’re surprisingly comfortable.
For jewelry, I kept it simple with my favorite Monica Vinader bracelet and a pair of affordable pearl drop earrings I found on Amazon—an easy way to elevate the look without overthinking it.
📍 Friday – Pool Day, Take Two
One of the casualties of the power outage weekend was a much-anticipated pool playdate for Viv and her best friend from school. The club lost power too, so we had to cancel. We rescheduled for Friday afternoon, and even though it was freezing, there was no way we were canceling again. They had been counting down the days to see each other—every day—for a week.
Were we the only ones there? Yes. But we powered through. The kids swam for a few hours, we us parents had happy hour at the cabana bar, and then everyone came back to our house. It actually turned out to be a great night.
I wore these super comfortable white shorts from Gap Factory (only $22) and a cotton striped sweater from Land’s End—warm enough to be chilly pool side. My raffia sandals are old J.Crew (the current version is here), and I grabbed my latest L.L.Bean Boat and Tote in green.
For jewelry, I wore my favorite Monica Vinader bracelet and her gold huggie earrings—which I love and wear constantly.
📍 Sunday Afternoon – A Birthday Day Date
Yesterday we snuck in a day date for Bri’s birthday. We started with Top Golf and then literally got changed in the car so we could look presentable for an early dinner at Capital Grille (I snapped this when we got back). We like sitting at the little two tops in the bar area—it feels cozy, it’s always bustling, there’s more great people-watching, the staff is absolutely lovely, and the food is exactly what you want. Plus, they make a great espresso martini.
I threw on this pretty blue dress I found at Nordstrom Rack (I’m wearing the medium). You might recognize it from one of our recent OOTDs—it’s such a great, easy piece and it’s only $50. I paired it with strappy sandals from J.Crew and a woven bag I found on Amazon a few years ago that goes with just about everything.
For jewelry, I kept on the Monica Vinader bracelet I’ve been wearing all week and added a pair of swirly stud earrings from Ring Concierge that look like tiny seashells—simple but special.
That’s it for this round-up—just a typical summer week with a nice mix of work and fun.
